Crochet Adult Beanie

I shared these sweet Baby Girl Beanies a few posts back and a friend asked if I could make her one in grown up girl size, in navy and white. Well..of course I can!  ๐Ÿ™‚

IMG_7964

I used this pattern from oombawka designs for the beginning of the hat and then changed the last 2 rows to give it more of a ribbed pattern. I used worsted weight Red Heart Super Saver yarn in soft navy and white with an H hook. I began the hat with 2 rows of navy and then alternated with the white until I had 13 rows, ending with the white. Then I added 2 more rows of navy alternating the Front Post Double Crochet (fpdc) stitch with a regular Double Crochet stitch all the way around. I finished the edge with a row of slip stitches all the way around.

Just a little tip…I carried the yarn between rows rather than cutting it at the end of each row. No ends to weave in while you are crocheting and since the color changed every other row, it really did look very neat inside the hat.

I used the flower pattern from this cute Crochet Cloche Hat that I posted a while back. I made the larger flower, attached a button, and sewed it to the hat with the navy yarn.

Although Spring is sure to be just around the corner, I hope my sweet friend will enjoy her cute hat…which by the way looks fabulous on her!! Wish I would have thought to snap a picture…

Easter “Peeps” Wood Decor

I found this pin on Pinterest and knew immediately I had to make my own version of the cute Easter “Peeps” decoration in the post!

I had some left over scraps of wood from our bathroom remodel and one of them was the perfect size. I painted it with 2 coats of white chalk finish paint and then dry brushed it with brown acrylic paint to give it a distressed look.

img_7937

I die cut a stencil from a transparency sheet using the bunny die from Amuse Studio. The die set is discontinued, but a quick google search should find a template you can use to make your stencil (like this one). Using the stencil, I applied blue, pink, and green dye ink with a sponge dauber to make the bunnies. After the ink was dry, I used the handle of a small paint brush to make the eyes and nose with dark brown paint.

Here’s how it turned out… I just love it!!

If you’d like bolder colors for your bunnies, just use acrylic paint instead of ink.

Such a sweet addition to your Easter decor! ๐Ÿฐ

Crochet Newborn Baby Girl Beanies

I shared these sweet newborn baby boy beanies in this post a few weeks ago. So cute!! ย ย

img_7759

I had a request to make them for a little girl and here is how they turned out…I love them!

img_7928

I used the same pattern – the Parker Crochet Newborn Hat pattern found hereย from Sewrella. I used Caron Simply Softย yarn in White, Soft Pink, and Grey Heather. To make them a little moreย feminine, I added the flowers from this Crochet Cloche Hat pattern and this cute bow pattern from Whistle & Ivy. After Iย crocheted them, I sewedย them to the hats with matching yarn.

So quick and easy to make…and just so sweet!!ย ๐Ÿ™‚

No Bake Peanut Butter Kiss Cookies

Do you like peanut butter and chocolate? Then these easy no bake treats are just for you!

img_7924

You can find the recipe on here on the Six Sister’s Stuff blog. They are super easy to make and come together really quickly – just 15 minutes from start to finish!!

I’m thinking they would be great with Dove heart-shaped chocolates or Rolo chewy caramels. Maybe some pastel sprinkles for Spring and Easter or red, white, and blue for Summer. Or orange, yellow, and brown for Fall or red and green for Christmas. So fun to make them any time for a special treat!

But you might want to make a double batch – they’ll go quickly!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Welcome, Little One.

Today I want to share a sweet card I made for a new little one who will soon be here. I can’t wait to meet him!! ๐Ÿ’™

img_7916

The baby stamp is an older one from Stampin’ Up and the sentiment is an older one from Amuse Studio. You can always make a similar card with whatever stamps you have in your stash.

Stamp the baby circle with mint green ink on white card stock. Punch out with a circle punch and layer to a scalloped circle punched from mint green card stock. Punch 2 more scalloped circles from dotted card stock. Stamp the sentiment with mint green ink on white card stock and punch with a label punch.

Emboss a panel of white card stock with a dot embossing folder, like this one from Sizzix. Attach to a panel of mint patterned paper and attach to a white card. Attach the patterned scalloped circles to the card. Attach the stamped circle to the card with foam tape. Add the sentiment and you’re done!

This is a great template to use for any occasion – just change your stamps and colors to make this a birthday, holiday, or thinking of you card…

Magnolia Bakery’s (in NYC) Vanilla Birthday Cake Cupcakes

There is the cutest little bakery on Bleecker St. in New York City. It’s called Magnolia Bakery and we discovered it several years ago during a trip there. (They also have several other locations in NYC, Chicago, LA, and even internationally.) We stood in the line which wound around the corner to order these amazing Vanilla Birthday Cake Cupcakes with Vanilla Buttercream icing. We loved them so much that we had them for breakfast every day we were there! Vacations are so much fun!!

They had so many yummy looking sweets, but we never did try anything else – just couldn’t get past those amazing cupcakes! ๐Ÿ˜‰

I was so excited to find that they had a cookbook with many of their wonderful recipes – including the cupcakes and icing – so of course I bought it. And the sad thing is I still haven’t tried any of the other recipes after all these years! ๐Ÿ˜• I need to be more adventurous…

I recently made these yummy cupcakes once again and discovered that the recipe can be found here on Food.com

Here they are fresh from the oven…and I highly recommend investing in one of these 24 count cupcake pans. You can find them at Hobby Lobby, Michaels, and other craft stores in the baking section. They are around $20, but use a coupon and they are even more affordable!

With the Vanilla Buttercream Icing and red sugar sprinkles…

Oh my…just so good!!!

Make up a batch of these and I promise you won’t be disappointed!!!!!!

A Day in Chattanoogaย

We had a beautiful day on January 14th – 70’s in the middle of winter!! And it just happened to be the 40th anniversary of the day my husband and I met, on a blind date ๐Ÿ˜Š. (Yikes!! 40 years!!) So we took a day trip to Chattanooga to celebrate and enjoy some time together.

We’ve been to Chattanooga lots of times, but decided to do something we’d not done yet. We rode the Incline Railway to the top of Lookout Mountain. Heights are not my favorite, so I was a little apprehensive about riding this thing – especially because my husband wanted to sit in the front row!! But I’m so glad we did! It’s a mile up to the top and you are literally going through people’s backyards as the car slowly goes up to the top of the mountain. The first picture is as we were nearing the top of the mountain – the second one is the car at the top waiting to make the trip down.

Couldn’t help but snap a picture of these chairs on this outcrop overlooking the city. My husband noticed them in the backyard of one of the beautiful homes on the mountain. He thought it would be fun to sit there – a little too close to the edge for me! ๐Ÿ˜ณ

img_7850

Speaking of the beautiful homes, I snapped pictures of a couple of them. So many gorgeous old homes on the mountain…

A short walk through the neighborhood and you’ll reach Point Park – a park that commemorates the Battle Above the Clouds during the Civil War. It is a very beautiful and peaceful place with sweeping views of Chattanooga. These are a few of the pictures I took while we enjoyed the park.

After a quick stop at Julie Darling Donuts (you seriously need to go there!!) for a yummy treat, we took a leisurely stroll across the Walnut Street Pedestrian Bridge. As we headed back to the car, I snapped this picture of the Market Street Bridge with the sun setting behind it.

A perfect end to a perfect day…

Happy 1st Birthdayย

A sweet little girl turned one this month!! The year has passed so quickly – and we are making a trip to the PNW soon to visit her and the rest of her family…can’t wait to see them. ๐Ÿ™‚

This is the card I made for her special day.

This cute little elephant is Sweet Elle from Unity Stamp Company. I love that she is holding one balloon – perfect for a first birthday!! ๐ŸŽˆ

Elle is stamped with brown ink on white card stock and colored with Copic markers. The background is lightly sponged with blue and green ink to make the sky and grass. “Happy Birthday” is stamped with brown ink. This is an older stamp from Hero Arts – just use your favorite one in your stash. Layer the stamped panel to pink and gray card stock and attach the panel to a white card. I added a little clear glitter glue to the heart on the balloon to finish the card.

Happy Birthday sweet girl – we’ll see you soon!!!

Love To Go

Happy Valentine’s Day! โค๏ธ I hope you Feel the Love today!

img_7846

This is such a fun stamp set from Unity Stamp Company – it’s called Love To Go. I stamped the coffee cup with brown ink on white card stock, colored it with Copic markers, and punched it out with an oval punch. I stamped the sentiment with red ink on white card stock, punched it with an oval punch, and inked the edges with red ink. I embossed a panel of kraft card stock with the heart embossing folder from Stampin’ Up and attached it to a kraft card. I attached a strip of red patterned paper and attached the coffee cup with foam tape. To finish the card, I attached the sentiment to the bottom of the card and then added the heart button.

This stamp would also make a great birthday card for your favorite coffee lover – just change the color scheme!

Happy โค๏ธ Day!
