I found this heart in the Dollar Spot at Target for $3. I wasn’t crazy about the way it was painted, but I loved the texture on it and thought that with a little paint it could be really cute.

I painted the heart with 2 coats of Americana Decor Chalky Finish Paint in Lace, letting it dry between coats. After the paint was dry, I used a stiff bristled brush to heavily dry brush Home Decor Chalk Paint in Maui Sand over the heart to give it a rustic look. 

I’m really happy with the way it turned out! It will be great for Valentine’s Day and all year long.

Keep your eyes open as you’re out and about – you never know what you may find that you can alter to fit your decor. 🙂
