Hi friends,
Sometimes you need to add a little height when you’re decorating. This Farmhouse Mini Wood Riser is perfect for that! It is so quick and easy to make and you can use it just about anywhere in your home.

You’ll need a wood plaque. I found this 2 pack of 5 by 5-inch wood plaques at Hobby Lobby. You’ll also need four 1-inch unfinished wood beads. These are the beads I used.
To paint my mini riser, I used Americana Décor Acrylic Chalky Finish Paint: Everlasting White. To add the distressing, I used charcoal acrylic paint. You can pick up small bottles of acrylic paint at your local craft store.

The first thing you’ll want to do is to glue your beads to the corners on the back of the plaque. I used E6000 clear adhesive to attach my beads.

Once the glue was dry I applied 2 coats of white paint using a foam brush, letting it dry between coats. Then I dry brushed the charcoal paint onto the mini riser to give it a distressed look. I like to use these chip brushes to dry brush. I trim the bristles down so they are only about an inch long to make the brush stiff. Then dip the brush in paint, brush most of the paint off onto a paper towel, and lightly brush over the surface of your project paying attention to the edges and raised areas to add the distressed look. Start out lightly and then you can add more color as you go to get the look you want.

The Farmhouse Mini Wood Riser is the perfect size to add to your tiered tray. I tucked mine under the vase with the greenery. You can also add it to your mantle decor, coffee bar, or anywhere you need a little “lift”.

You can find the info for my Vintage-Look Chalk Painted Salt and Pepper Shakers here. The cute Mini Farmhouse Wreath info is here.
These little plaques come in round, oval, or rectangle shapes as well as square. Any of these shapes would be great for making your own mini risers. And if farmhouse is not your style, you can paint them any color that will go with your decor. Lots and lots of options for these fun mini risers!
