Hi friends,
I found this cute set of nested wood crates in the Bullseye Playground at Target for just $5.00. Please tell me I’m not the only one who has to shop this area of the store first! 😉 Seriously, sometimes I find the best stuff there…

I found this great Fall filler set of pumpkins and pine cones in the seasonal section of Hobby Lobby. The pumpkins have a velvety feel and are so pretty – much nicer than the plastic ones.

The larger crate measures about 7-inches square and the smaller one is about 6-inches square. I used the larger crate for my project.
First I applied a coat of Everlasting White DecoArt Chalky Finish Paint using a chip brush. I didn’t worry about getting full coverage because I wanted it to have a more rustic look.

After the paint was dry, I dry brushed the entire crate with a dark brown chalky finish paint (acrylic paint will work for this step, too). You can find small bottles of chalky finish or acrylic paint at your local craft store.

I recently purchased a Cricut Explore Air 2 and I’m just learning how to use it – I think it will be a fun tool in my crafting arsenal. 🙂 I used orange vinyl with my Cricut to cut out “Happy Fall” and applied it to the crate using transfer tape.

Then came the fun part – filling the crate with all the Fall things! My little scarecrow pick came from Dollar Tree (it was a pack of 2). I didn’t like the bow he had so I took it off and added my own. I hot glued a small piece of styrofoam to the center of the crate and stuck the scarecrow into the styrofoam – with a little hot glue on the pick. I hot glued some moss to the bottom inside of the crate and to cover the styrofoam.
Then I added the pumpkins, pine cones, and leaves I had in my stash, using hot glue to secure them as needed.

I think it turned out so cute!

This will be a great addition to your holiday table centerpiece or anywhere you need to add a little bit of Fall! 🍁🍂🍁
