Crochet Bobble Color Block Baby Blanket

Hi friends,

My sister asked me to crochet 2 blankets for a friend who is expecting twin grand babies! The request was for no blue or pink, just neutral colors. She thought maybe white, gray, and another color. I added a sage green and designed a brand new pattern for one of the blankets!

I’m working on another new pattern for the 2nd blanket using the same colors, so stay tuned! I hope to share it with you in the next few weeks 😊

I have been loving bobbles lately! I shared my Bobble Dishcloth pattern here, my fun Snowball Mini Gift Bag pattern here and my Bobble Infinity Scarf pattern here – and they are all free! It was so fun to create this Bobble Color Block Baby Blanket to continue the trend. 😊

I used Yarn Bee Soft & Sleek Yarn in White, Sage, and Light Gray with an H/5mm hook to stitch up my blanket.

One thing I want to mention about the bobble stitch I use…make sure to finish the bobble by working a single crochet into the next stitch. I like doing it this way because it makes the bobble really “pop”.

I’ve also included the count for the pattern repeat if you want to adjust the size.

Here is the pattern and I’ve included a link to a free PDF below if you’d like to easily print it.

Crochet Bobble Color Block Baby Blanket

Worsted Weight yarn – I used Yarn Bee Soft & Sleek in White, Sage, and Light Gray (approximately 6 ounces of White and Light Gray and 7 ounces of Sage)

H/5mm hook

Stitches used in US terms:
Foundation Half Double Crochet – fhdc
Chain – ch
Half Double Crochet – hdc
Bobble Stitch – bobble
Single Crochet – sc
Slip Stitch – ss

Special stitch: Bobble Stitch – Yarn over, insert hook into stitch, and pull up a loop. Yarn over, pull through two loops. Repeat 4 times – there will be 6 loops on the hook. Yarn over and pull through all 6 loops. Sc in next stitch to complete the Bobble stitch.

Pattern repeat is multiple of 5 plus 3.

Begin with White.

Row 1: work 98 fhdc. Turn. (98 stitches)

Row 2: ch 1. hdc in first 3 stitches. work bobble in next stitch, hdc in next 3 stitches Repeat from * to * across. Turn. (19 bobbles, 60 hdc)

Rows 3-5: ch 1. hdc in each stitch across. Turn. (98 stitches)

Rows 6-29: Repeat Rows 2-5 Six times. (98 stitches)

Change to Sage.

Rows 30-53: Repeat Rows 2-5 Six times. (98 stitches)

Change to Light Gray.

Rows 54-77: Repeat Rows 2-5 Six times. (98 stitches)

Row 78: Repeat Row 2. (19 Bobbles, 60 hdc)

Row 79: ch 1. hdc in each stitch across. (98 stitches)
Do not turn at the end of Row 79.

Change to Sage.

Begin working in Rounds.

Round 1: ch 1. sc evenly around blanket, working 3 sc in each corner.

Rounds 2-3: ch 1. hdc in each stitch around, working 3 hdc in each corner.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Finished blanket measures approximately 30 by 28.5 inches.

This pattern would look so good in any color combo or even just one solid color. What color will you make your Bobble Color Block Baby Blanket?
