Pumpkin Treat Tag

There’s still time to make this cute little tag to add to your Halloween treat bags for those special trick or treaters. 🎃 It’s super quick and easy to make – and it will use up some of those paper scraps you have laying around!

img_7370

Punch 3 ovals from orange card stock. Stamp a pumpkin face on one of the ovals and ink the edges of all 3 with a darker orange or terra cotta ink. My stamp is an older stamp from PrintWorks. I don’t think it is still available, but there are lots of other face stamps out there – or draw your own with a black marker!! Slightly overlap the bottom 2 ovals and attach the oval with the face over the top.

Trim a tiny piece of brown card stock to make the stem and attach it to the back of the pumpkin. To make the vine, cut a thin strip of green card stock. Twist it around a lollipop stick, or something similar, so it will curl. Attach one end to the front of the pumpkin.

Punch a scalloped circle from black card stock and attach the pumpkin with foam tape. Stamp the sentiment with black ink on orange card stock and punch out with a label punch. Attach the sentiment to the scalloped circle. My sentiment is from Amuse Studio. Again, it’s an older stamp, but any Halloween sentiment you have will work just as well!

These little tags really do come together very quickly! Punch a tiny circle at the top and attach it with some twine to a treat bag filled with goodies.

New England Beauty

A couple of weeks ago we were able to take a 10 day road trip through a small part of New England. It was amazingly beautiful!! 🍁🍂

The trees were turning, there were some clouds, some sun, and surprisingly warm temperatures. Here are a few photos that I took – they don’t even begin to do justice to the beauty we saw!!

We started the trip watching the sunrise above the clouds from our plane.

img_6764

There are so many beautiful old churches in the northeast. This is Old First Church in Bennington, Vermont. It began in 1762 and they still have services every Sunday!

img_6940

Here are some of the beautiful sights we saw as we drove through Vermont and New Hampshire.

We also visited Bar Harbor, Maine. img_7232

The top photo is the sandbar that you can walk across from the town of Bar Harbor to Bar Island at low tide. The bottom photo is the same area at high tide. I got a kick out of the signs warning not to park your car on the sandbar…wonder why they had to actually post that?!?!?

Our final stop was Portland, Maine and we visited Portland Head Light. The coast was absolutely beautiful – rocky with the waves crashing in!

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to New England! So much more to see and do – 10 days was not nearly enough time! For now, I’ll leave you with a picture of one of the beautiful trees in Bar Harbor…

Halloween Greetings

Halloween Greetings! This little cutie is one of the itty bitty stamps from Unity Stamp Company. I love her because she is cute and not so spooky – I’m not really a fan of the spooky side of Halloween. Just give me all that yummy candy and I’m a happy girl! 🙂

img_7352

I stamped her with black ink on white card stock, colored her with Copic markers, and lightly inked the edges of the panel with black ink. I layered the image to green card stock that has one edge punched with a scalloped edge punch. The sentiment is stamped with black ink on white card stock and layered to orange card stock. The spider web background is a piece of white card stock embossed with the spider web embossing folder from Darice. I cut the panel into 3 equal pieces and then lightly inked them with black ink. The pieces are attached to a panel of black card stock leaving a small space between the pieces. I attached a thin strip of patterned paper over the spider web and attached the finished panel to an orange card. The stamped images are attached to the card with foam tape.

I hope she makes you smile!  🙂  🎃

Crochet Cloche Hat

These are just the cutest little hats!! And before we know it, little ears will need to be kept warm – and big ears, too! 🙂 You can find the free pattern for this Charmed Cloche Hat here. It includes sizes from newborn to adult so you can make one for all your favorite girls…

I used Yarn Bee Soft Secret yarn in Soft Gray to make the hats and Hot Turquoise to make the flowers. This yarn is available at Hobby Lobby and is one of the softest medium (4) weight yarns I’ve found. I really love working with it!

So…here are 2 of the hats I’ve made in the child and toddler sizes. I have plenty of yarn left to reverse the color scheme – turquoise hat with gray flower. Depending on the sizes you need to make, I think you could make at least 4 hats and flowers with 2 skeins of yarn.

Such a cute way to keep the chill away!

Hope Your Fall Is A Hoot

This little guy is dropping by to wish you a Happy Fall. He is just so adorable! You can find him here with a couple of his friends at Darcie’s Rubber Stamps.

img_6759

I stamped the owl with brown ink on white card stock, colored him with Copic markers, and punched him with a scalloped circle punch. I layered the stamped image to a circle punched from orange card stock. The sentiment is stamped with brown ink on white card stock and punched with an oval punch.

To assemble the card, emboss a panel of turquoise card stock with the Scattered Leaves embossing folder from Taylored Expressions. Attach to a kraft card. Attach owl and sentiment to the card with foam tape. Punch 2 tiny leaves and attach to the card with foam tape.

I think he is just a hoot! 😉

Cherry or Pumpkin?

So which is your favorite pie, cherry or pumpkin? Here’s a sweet way to have both – without all the calories! 🙂

I made these cute pot holders/hot pads for my Mom for her birthday. They work up super quick using worsted weight cotton yarn. I found the free patterns on Pinterest.

You can find the pattern for the Pumpkin Pie pot holder here… I used pumpkin orange and white cotton worsted weight yarn to make it. By using cotton, the pot holder can withstand the heat!

The pattern for the Cherry Pie pot holder is available here… I used worsted weight cotton yarn in dark red and medium brown to make this yummy pot holder.

A cute way to add some sweetness to your kitchen without the guilt! 😀

Happy Owl’oween

Isn’t this little owl just the cutest?!?! He is from the Happy Owl’oween stamp set by Unity Stamp Company. As soon as I saw him I knew he had to find his way to my craft room. 🙂

img_6758

I stamped the owl with black ink on white card stock and colored him with Copic markers. I punched him out with a circle punch and distressed the edges with black ink. I punched a larger circle from green card stock, distressed the edges with black ink, and layered the owl image to the circle. The purple panel of card stock was punched with a scalloped edge punch, embossed with the Dotted Lattice embossing folder from Taylored Expressions, and then attached to a white card. I stamped “Happy Owl’oween” with black ink on white card stock, punched it out with a label punch, and layered it to orange card stock. Both stamped images are attached to the card with foam tape.

I think he is just a hoot! 😉  🎃

Fall Wreath

I love having a seasonal wreath on my front door. But now, after painting my pantry door, I love having a wreath on that door as well. This is a fun and simple wreath to add a little Fall to my kitchen.

img_6754

It’s made with a styrofoam wreath form, burlap ribbon, leaf stems, and a pumpkin. Simply secure the ribbon with a couple of straight pins on the back of the wreath. Then wrap the ribbon around the wreath, overlapping the edges. When finished wrapping, secure the end of the ribbon with more straight pins. Using the tip of your scissors, start a small hole where you want to attach your leaf stems. Push the ends of the stems into the wreath. My pumpkin also had a stem on it so I attached it in the same way. You can also use a little hot glue to attach the pumpkin. I added contrasting ribbon attached with straight pins to hang my wreath.

Fast, easy, and pretty – a perfect little touch of Fall for any door in your home! 🍁🍂

Candy Corn Decorations

One of the things I love about the Fall season is candy corn – either the real candy or fun decorations made to look like the candy.

I was inspired by this pin I found on Pinterest to make my own Candy Corn Decorations. I started with styrofoam cones that you can pick up at your local craft store. The small ones came in a package of 2.

img_6748

I used cotton yarn in orange, yellow, and white to wrap the cones.

img_6749

I started with the yellow yarn about 1/3 of the way up the cone. I wrapped the yarn around the end and continued wrapping in one layer until the bottom of the cone. When I got near the bottom, I spread thick white glue on the cone (I used Crafter’s Pick The Ultimate) before wrapping the last couple of rows to hold the yarn in place. Don’t cut the yarn yet! Continue wrapping the yarn haphazardly back up the cone so it doesn’t look so perfect. When you get to the top of the yellow section, cut the yarn and use a yarn needle to tuck the end under the wrapped section.

img_6750

Wrap the orange yarn in the same way as the yellow. To wrap the white yarn, I spread glue on the top of the cone. Then I wrapped the yarn beginning in the center of the top, making a tight circle until I got to the edges. I continued to wrap in the same way as the yellow and orange.

And here they are all finished!

img_6751

These were really fun and easy to make! I think I need to go to the store for the real thing now…
